What does the banner represent?
During 2008 an art competition was run through Amaroo School to develop a club banner that reflected the Gungahlin community. The main themes running through all entries were the local ponds, terrain and its’ Aboriginal origins which often led to a patriotic flavour. Taking these themes into account to the above banner was created.
Gungahlin is the Aboriginal for “Little Rocky Hill” this was further expanded on in the design of the background to portray the actual surrounding hills. While notably in the Rotary colours, royal blue and gold, this also represents the local ponds and the dry grasslands of Gungahlin.
The Rotary emblem expressed in a simplistic Australian design reflects our young vibrant club and water ripples mark Gungahlin’s location within Australia.
