The Rotary Club of Gungahlin was involved with three main local community service projects during 2009 / 2010.

The first was the initiation of projects under the recently ratified Memorandum of Understanding between Parks, Conservation and Lands and the Rotary Club of Gungahlin. Working closely with Parks Conservation and Lands the hill near the Yerrabi Pond playground was planted with Australian Natives, greatly improving the outlook of the much-used area. A number of other suggestions for improvements for Gungahlin parks and open areas were identified when surveying local residents and visitors, these will be considered in the coming year.

The planning and approval process also began during this time for the construction of a series of Dirt Jumps. When completed this Australian Capital Territory pilot programme will cater for beginner to intermediate riders and be located at Yerrabi Pond, Gungahlin. In conjunction with Canberra Off Road Cyclists, Parks Conservation and Lands and other community groups we look forward to moving into the construction phase later in the 2010 /2011 year.

Thirdly was the participation with the Australian Federal Police in an early intervention program for local youth at risk. The programme was developed by the AFP in consultation with local primary schools to mentor and assist participants in developing respect, self-confidence, community participation and personal growth and visioning.
